Our live timing and internet equipment was designed to be rugged, but it needs to be cared for properly. Promoters are responsible for taking care of it during their contract.
The basic steps to tear down the live timing equipment are:
1. Power down. You can do this by unplugging the surge protector within the RFID Electronics Hub.
2. Disconnect the main antenna cables from the 12" cables attached to the RFID Electronics Hub. We strongly recommend keeping the 12" antenna cables connected to the hub all the time, for terminal wear protection, and ease of connection/disconnection.
3. Seal the RFID Electronics Hub by replacing its front and rear doors, and securing them. DO NOT remove the 12" cable extensions, as they are used to prevent unnecessary wear on the ports of the RFID reader in the box. These extension cables fit when slightly bent to the side.
4. Remove the antennas. You can store them in their original packaging, or supply a tote bin or similar container.
5. Remove the Cables, and wind them up and store them in a box or tote bin. Don't wind them tighter than 12" loops, and never bend any part of the cables sharply or they can break and become unstable.
6. Remove pins and disconnect joints as necessary on the truss gantry, and replace the pins in the disconnected joints with their retaining pins.
a. For onsite storage, keeping the gantry sections in as few pieces as possible is best.
b. For transportation, depending on the size of your trailer or truck, a complete disassembly is usually necessary. Replace pins in their holes with retaining pins any time you disassemble. Since trussing can have a memory, it is best to mark one joint at each intersection with unique colors or marks in a way that will allow you to reassemble the same joints at the next construction.
7. Store the RFID Electronics Hub as well as the Antenna Case in a secure area. You are responsible for them if they are lost or damaged. RaceReady may request that you return them at any time as well, for refurbishing or replacement.
